ECI Sends More Observers to Bengal for Electoral Roll Revision
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has sent five more Special Roll Observers to West Bengal to help with the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list.
These observers will work with the local election officials to make sure the voter list is accurate and up-to-date.
The observers are assigned to different areas in West Bengal, like Kolkata and Medinipur.
The last time they did a big update like this was over 20 years ago.
Some political parties are worried that this update might be used to remove eligible voters, but the government says it's important to keep the elections fair and make sure only citizens can vote.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has appointed five additional Special Roll Observers for West Bengal to review the ongoing Special Summary Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
The new observers are Kumar Ravi Kant Singh, Niraj Kumar Bansod, Krishna Kumar Nirala, Alok Tiwari, and Pankaj Yadav, all IAS officers from different ministries.
These observers will work in coordination with West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Agarwal in Kolkata.
The observers are assigned to different divisions in West Bengal, including Presidency, Medinipur, Burdwan, Malda, and Jalpaiguri.
