G7 Agrees to Release 100 Million Barrels Amid Fuel Price Surge

Fuel prices have been rising in many places.

The G7, a group of seven countries with the European Union also represented, agreed to release 100 million barrels of oil and fuel.

Diesel is expected to be released first.

The G7 said a large diesel release would start within 20 days.

Donald Trump said it would start immediately.

The rest of the fuel is planned for release over the next four months.

French President Emmanuel Macron said the extra supply could help bring prices down.

Supplies have also been affected by Russian export restrictions and disruptions to Gulf shipments.

It is not yet clear whether this release adds to an earlier international pledge.
