Karnataka High Court Upholds Divorce, Awards Wife Rs 25 Lakh

A court in Karnataka confirmed that a couple’s marriage should end in divorce.

The couple said their relationship had completely broken down.

They also said there was no reason or meaning in continuing the marriage.

They had no children together.

The wife had challenged an earlier family court decision that granted the divorce.

The High Court upheld that decision.

It also ordered the husband to pay his wife Rs 25 lakh.

The money must be paid in five equal instalments.

The wife said her in-laws had opposed the marriage because she belonged to a Scheduled Caste.
