Children With Special Needs Paint Salt Lake Puja Wall
About 50 children with different support needs painted pictures on a long wall for a Durga Puja celebration in Salt Lake.
The children painted goddesses, festival scenes, and other things they wanted to show.
Some had practised their pictures before the event, while others made something new.
Ananya, who is 28 and does not speak, drew a lotus and a picture called “Trinayani.”
Her mother said she was happy and laughed while drawing.
Some children needed help, including Subhajit, whose father gently guided his hand.
The children learn art, music, and daily skills through an organization called Sangbedan.
The organizers want the celebration to welcome everybody.
The pictures will be displayed inside the festival pandal for visitors to see.
Around 50 children with special needs painted a 250-foot wall for Salt Lake BC Block Residents’ Association’s golden jubilee Durga Puja.
Participants included children with autism, intellectual disabilities and cerebral palsy.
Ananya Biswas, 28, drew a lotus and a “Trinayani”; her mother said it was a major step for her.
The children are associated with Sangbedan, an NGO that trains them in art, music and daily living skills.
Organizers said the drawings will be displayed inside the puja pandal after the wall is dismantled.
