Lavrov Says NATO Arctic Activity Poses Direct Threat to Russia

The Arctic is a very cold region where Russia and NATO countries are increasing their military activity.

Russia’s foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, says NATO’s actions could threaten Russia.

He also warned that accidents or misunderstandings could lead to a much bigger fight.

NATO started a mission called Arctic Sentry in February.

NATO members say their increased attention is connected to tensions with Russia and the war in Ukraine.

Norway, which borders Russia, recently expanded a military brigade in the Arctic.

Russia has many military bases and forces in the region.

China is also becoming more active there, often working with Russia.
