India's Labour Reforms to Boost Jobs and Formalisation
India has introduced four new labour codes that aim to make work more formal and provide better social security.
These codes will help more people get benefits like health check-ups and minimum wages.
Around 10 crore people might move from informal jobs to formal ones, which could increase the number of formal workers to 75.5%.
The codes also aim to reduce unemployment and increase consumption by raising the minimum wage.
The reforms could create 77 lakh new jobs and boost consumption by ₹75,000 crore.
The government expects these changes to help India achieve its long-term economic goals by creating a more protected and productive workforce.
India's four new labour codes aim to increase formalisation, expand social security, reduce unemployment, and boost consumption.
Approximately 10 crore workers are expected to shift from informal to formal payrolls.
The formalisation rate is projected to increase from 60.4% to 75.5%.
Unemployment could decrease by 0.3% to 1.3% over the medium term, creating 77 lakh new jobs.
The implementation of the labour codes is expected to boost consumption by approximately ₹75,000 crore.
