Thailand Sees 7.44% Drop in Foreign Visitors
Thailand is seeing fewer tourists this year.
From January to September, there were fewer visitors compared to the same time last year.
This drop is mainly because fewer Chinese tourists are coming, possibly due to safety worries and because other countries seem more appealing.
Additionally, Thailand doesn't seem as affordable as it used to be.
Price hikes in food and hotels make trips more expensive.
Concerns about scams, crimes, and the ongoing border tensions with Cambodia also keep some people away.
Although some tourists are still visiting from the US, UK, Australia, and India, it's not enough to make up for the decline in visitors from Asia.
Thailand's foreign tourist arrivals fell by 7.44% between January and September 2024.
Approximately 23.45 million visitors entered Thailand during the period.
Malaysia and China were the top source markets for tourists.
Experts cite safety concerns and the appeal of other destinations as key reasons for the decline.
Thailand's rising prices and recent policy changes are also factors.
