Electric Three-Wheelers Classified by Rules, Not Shape

Electric Three-Wheelers Classified by Rules, Not Shape

Electric three-wheelers are not officially classified by how they look.

The terms "Auto Shape" and "Non-Auto Shape" are commonly used in the market.

They are not categories in the Central Motor Vehicles Rules.

Some vehicles qualify as E-Rickshaws or E-Carts.

These vehicles have a maximum speed of 25 km/h and must meet other requirements.

L5 is another official category for three-wheelers.

L5 vehicles can be designed for specifications beyond the E-Rickshaw or E-Cart category.

Officials classify the vehicle using its approved category and technical details, not its appearance.
