Modi's New India: Seeking to Win Back Its Youth

Modi's New India: Seeking to Win Back Its Youth

Every year on Independence Day, India's leader, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, gives a big speech from a famous fort called the Red Fort.

This year, he talked a lot about young people.

He promised that one crore (ten million) young Indians will get training in artificial intelligence, which is how computers learn to do smart things.

He also promised free online classes to help students prepare for big exams, and a plan to find talented young athletes across the country.

Why?

Because many young people in India are worried about expensive classes and finding good jobs after school.

He said he wants India to be a strong and developed country by the year 2047.

He also talked about making India's own weapons and technology so it does not have to depend on other countries.

Some adults who watched the speech say good promises are not enough.

They say India also needs to fix problems like unfair exams and make sure there are real jobs for young people.

So the speech is like a big promise, and the hard part is making that promise come true.
