Odisha Withholds Salaries Over Grievances
In Odisha, the government has taken strict action against officers who are not doing their jobs properly.
In Cuttack, 91 senior officers had their salaries withheld because they did not solve many complaints from the public.
These complaints were sent through a special website called 'Janasunani'.
The Chief Minister's office was not happy with how slowly Cuttack was solving these complaints.
The officers whose salaries were withheld include important people like the SP (Rural), doctors, and other local leaders.
The opposition party, BJD, says this shows that the system for solving public problems is not working well.
The government hopes this action will make the officers work faster to solve the complaints.
In Kendrapara, the Collector froze the salaries of employees in 42 government departments for not switching to a new digital system called OSWAS.
The government says this is important to make work faster and more transparent.
Some departments say they need more training to use the new system, but the government says they must follow the rules.
Salaries of 91 senior officers in Cuttack district were withheld for failing to resolve public grievances.
The action was taken due to unresolved grievances lodged through the 'Janasunani' portal.
The Chief Minister's Grievance Cell expressed displeasure over Cuttack's declining performance in grievance resolution.
Officers affected include the SP (Rural), sub-collectors, BDOs, tehsildars, the chief district medical officer, and the vice chairman of the Cuttack Development Authority.
The opposition BJD alleged that the public grievance redressal system in the state is stagnant.
