CAG flags violations in Yettinahole Project tender norms
The CAG found problems with how the Karnataka government gave contracts for the Yettinahole water project.
They didn't follow the usual rules for tenders, didn't check if the companies could handle the work, and gave them too little time to bid.
This happened for most of the project's big contracts, worth between 87 crore and 1,135 crore rupees.
The CAG reported these issues to the government to make sure they follow the rules better next time.
CAG identified deficiencies in the tendering process for Karnataka's Yettinahole Project.
Non-standard tender documents and insufficient bidding time were noted.
80% of the works were awarded without evaluating contractors' financial and bid capacity.
Contract values ranged from Rs 87.08 crore to Rs 1,135.03 crore.
The report highlighted irregular payments and excess expenditure among other issues.
