Sitharaman Assures Resources for Subsidy Bills

Sitharaman Assures Resources for Subsidy Bills

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the government has enough money to handle the increased costs of petroleum and fertiliser subsidies.

This is because of higher global prices due to the Middle East conflict.

She mentioned that the government has set aside extra money to deal with these costs and won't need to change the budget.

However, she also noted that the weak monsoon rains and global price increases are adding to inflation pressures.

The Reserve Bank of India expects the economy to grow by 6.6% in 2026-27 despite these challenges.
