CIL and DVC Form Joint Venture for 1,600 MW Power Expansion
Two big energy companies, CIL and DVC, are teaming up to build a new power plant.
This new plant will add 1,600 megawatts of power, which is a lot!
It will be built right next to an existing power station in Chandrapura, which is in Jharkhand.
They are going to build two super-powerful units, each making 800 megawatts.
The coal to run these plants will come from another company owned by CIL.
The whole project will cost about 21,000 crore rupees, and both companies will pay half.
They want to start making power by the year 2032, which is when they think India will need even more energy.
This partnership will help make sure there's always enough electricity available, especially during times of high demand.
Coal India Limited (CIL) and Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) have formed a joint venture.
The JV will expand the Chandrapura thermal power project by 1,600 MW with two 800 MW ultra supercritical units.
The estimated project cost is Rs 21,000 crore, with a 50:50 equity share between CIL and DVC.
Coal for the new plants will be sourced from CIL's subsidiary, Central Coalfields Limited.
Commercial operations are targeted to begin by FY32 to meet India's growing energy demand.
