Special Officers To Run Parishads Ahead of Local Polls
Some local councils are finishing the terms of their elected leaders.
Mandal parishad members and leaders leave office on September 23.
Special Officers will manage those councils from September 24.
Zilla parishad members and leaders finish their terms on September 24.
District collectors and magistrates will manage the zilla parishads from September 25.
These temporary arrangements are meant to keep local services running.
They will continue for up to six months or until new representatives take office.
Officials are also preparing for local elections and reorganizing the zilla parishads.
Mandal and zilla praja parishads will be administered by Special Officers after elected bodies complete their terms.
Mandal praja parishad elected members’ terms end on September 23, with interim administration beginning September 24.
District collectors will appoint senior district officers as Special Officers for the mandal parishads for up to six months.
Zilla praja parishad terms end on September 24, after which district collectors and magistrates will oversee them.
