Kolkata: Steel Barriers to Improve Pedestrian Safety on Bypass
The city is putting up steel fences on a busy road to make it safer for people walking.
The goal is to stop people from crossing the road in dangerous spots and to prevent accidents.
The government is paying for the project, which will cost about 23.6 lakh rupees.
A company will be hired to build the fences, and they have one month to finish.
Police officers said that many accidents happen because people cross roads unsafely, and the fences are meant to help stop this.
Steel barricades will be installed on the EM Bypass near Chingrighata and Ambedkar Bridge.
The project aims to prevent risky pedestrian crossings and reduce accidents.
The Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) is managing the project.
