Alex Lutz Premieres Directorial Effort 'Connemara' at TAFFF
Alex Lutz, a well-known actor and director, is bringing his new movie 'Connemara' to Los Angeles for its big premiere in North America.
This movie is a romantic drama about Hélène, played by Mélanie Thierry, who is a successful executive who gets very tired from her job and returns to her old hometown.
There, she meets her childhood friend Christophe, played by Bastien Bouillon.
Christophe never left the town and is now raising his son alone.
Alex Lutz, who also wrote the movie, was inspired by a book and wanted to explore themes of time passing, and the choice between staying in a small town or leaving to pursue a career.
He was also interested in the setting, which is on the edges of towns, and the social issues that might be hidden there.
Lutz worked with a few other people to write the script and carefully chose the actors, wanting them to bring specific qualities to their roles.
This is the first movie Lutz directed where he doesn't act in it himself, but he has directed many plays without acting before.
He also recently started a film production company and has other projects in development.
Alex Lutz's directorial film 'Connemara' is having its Northern American Premiere at The American French Film Festival (TAFFF) in Los Angeles.
The film stars Mélanie Thierry as a burned-out executive Hélène and Bastien Bouillon as her childhood friend Christophe, a single father living in his hometown.
Lutz adapted the screenplay from Nicolas Mathieu's novel of the same name, exploring themes of time, small-town life, and career choices.
Lutz co-wrote the screenplay with Amélia Guyader and Hadrien Bichet, and selected Thierry and Bouillon for their specific qualities.
'Connemara' marks Lutz's fourth solo feature as director, and it is the first time he is directing without also acting in the film.
