Odisha Releases First-Year Olive Ridley Turtle Research Report

Odisha Releases First-Year Olive Ridley Turtle Research Report

Odisha has shared the first report from a three-year study of Olive Ridley turtles.

The turtles use the state’s coastal waters and beaches.

Researchers used satellite tracking, boat trips and shoreline surveys to learn more about them.

The Wildlife Institute of India led the work with government and Adani-linked partners.

The report is the first renewal of satellite tracking in Odisha in nearly 15 years.

Officials said the information can help people plan how to protect the turtles.

Researchers will continue tracking more turtles to build a larger set of information.

Odisha’s government and the Adani Foundation said conservation and sustainability are important.
