Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi urges coffee inclusion in PM Fasal Bima Yojana
Priyanka Gandhi, a Congress MP from Wayanad in Kerala, has asked the central government to include coffee in a special insurance plan for farmers.
This plan, called Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, helps farmers when their crops are damaged by bad weather.
Priyanka said that coffee growers in her area face many problems because their farms are on hilly land.
She also asked the government to change some rules about subsidies for replanting coffee plants and to increase the amount of money given for irrigation to tribal farmers.
She believes these changes will help coffee growers do better and compete with other countries.
Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra urged Union Minister Piyush Goyal to include coffee cultivation under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.
She highlighted the difficulties faced by coffee growers in her Wayanad constituency due to hilly terrain and adverse climate conditions.
Priyanka requested the government to amend the conditions for availing subsidies, including allowing alternative replantation methods like grafting.
She drew attention to the plight of tribal coffee growers and requested an enhancement in the irrigation subsidy cap.
Priyanka offered her support and cooperation to the government in implementing these changes to benefit the coffee grower community.
