Ahmedabad Flower Show Costs Exceed Ticket Revenue
The Ahmedabad Flower Show is a big event where people come to see beautiful flower arrangements.
This year, the show cost Rs 17 crore to set up, but the money from ticket sales and other sources is only Rs 10 crore so far.
Fewer people are visiting the show compared to previous years, which is why the organizers are trying to make it last longer and attract more visitors.
The show has different themes each year, and this year it's about India's achievements.
The organizers are also trying to reduce costs by using less water and changing the flowers less often.
The 14th International Flower Show in Ahmedabad cost Rs 17 crore to set up, with revenue of Rs 10 crore from ticketing, sponsorships, and rentals as of January 18.
Visitor numbers have dropped from 9.06 lakh in 2023 to 6.52 lakh in 2024, with the highest footfall recorded on public holidays.
The show was extended by a week to January 29 to increase visitors, and the VIP slot for premium entry has been scrapped.
The show's theme this year is 'Bharat Ek Gatha,' showcasing India's achievements through floral sculptures.
The AMC is trying to cut costs by using micro-irrigation and reducing the frequency of flower replacements.
