Chennai Metro Installs Longest U-Girder to Cut Costs
Chennai is building a new metro train line, and they just put up a super-long, giant concrete beam called a U-girder!
This is the longest one used for a metro project in India.
They used it at a busy spot called Manapakkam.
Instead of using expensive steel, they built this special concrete one, which saved money and time.
The team planned it for months, studying traffic to make it work.
This is part of a bigger project to build more train lines and help people get around easily.
Chennai Metro Rail launched the longest U-girder in India at Manapakkam.
The U-girder is part of the Phase II project for a double-decker corridor.
The concrete girder was chosen over steel to save costs and time.
The 33.33-meter girders weigh 225 metric tonnes each.
Specialized trailers were used to transport the girders.
