Indian-Origin Man Listed As Fugitive In Medicare Fraud Case

U.S. authorities accuse Khadeer Khan Mohammed of helping run a large healthcare fraud scheme.

They say his laboratory submitted false claims to Medicare for genetic tests.

The alleged scheme took place from August 2023 to October 2024.

Medicare is a U.S. healthcare program that paid at least $65 million on the claims.

Authorities say some doctors’ identities were used without permission.

They also say those doctors had not treated the patients connected to the claims.

Mohammed is now considered a fugitive and may be in Hyderabad, India.

The Department of Health and Human Services and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are investigating the case.
