Privilege Motion Against NCP-SP Leader for Remarks on Council Chairman
A leader from the BJP, Praveen Darekar, filed a complaint against another leader, Suryakant More from the NCP-SP, for saying mean things about the head of the Legislative Council and the council itself.
These remarks were made at a rally in Jamkhed.
The council accepted the complaint and decided to investigate.
They also asked the police to look into it and possibly file a criminal case.
Many leaders from different parties agreed that the remarks were not okay.
The NCP-SP said that their leader, Sharad Pawar, did not support what More said and that they would ask for an explanation from him.
Rohit Pawar from NCP (SP) said that the criticism was aimed at the individual, not the position, and apologized if anyone felt insulted.
BJP MLC Praveen Darekar filed a breach of Privilege Motion against NCP-SP leader Suryakant More for 'highly objectionable' remarks about the Legislative Council chairperson and the council.
The motion was accepted by Deputy Chairperson Neelam Gorhe, who directed an inquiry and a criminal case against More.
The remarks were made at a rally in Jamkhed on November 23, 2025, where More criticized the Legislative Council and its chairperson, Ram Shinde.
Members across parties condemned More's statements, with some calling for rule changes to empower the Privilege Committee.
NCP (SP) leader Shashikant Shinde stated that More's behavior was not condoned by party leader Sharad Pawar, and Rohit Pawar apologized if anyone felt insulted, clarifying that the criticism was against the individual, not the position.
