Varanasi Launches Free Computerised Death Registration
The Varanasi Municipal Corporation has started a new system to register deaths for free at two big cremation places called Manikarnika and Harishchandra ghats.
The Mayor, Ashok Kumar Tiwari, opened this system on a special day called Basant Panchami.
This system will help keep track of how many people are being cremated and make it easier for families to get death certificates.
The city plans to add this system to 12 more cemeteries for other communities soon.
Families only need to give basic information, and it won't cost them anything.
