Nepal Eases Indian Currency Rules
Nepal has made it easier for people to carry Indian money across the border.
Now, Indian and Nepalese citizens can bring in or take out Indian currency notes of Rs 200 and Rs 500, but only if they were issued after November 9, 2016.
The maximum amount allowed is Rs 25,000 per person.
Old Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes issued before that date are still not allowed.
This change helps tourists and business people traveling between India and Nepal.
Nepal also allows up to USD 5,000 in other foreign currencies without needing to declare it to customs.
Nepal allows Indian and Nepalese nationals to carry Rs 200 and Rs 500 notes issued after November 9, 2016, up to Rs 25,000.
Old Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes issued before November 9, 2016, remain prohibited.
The new rules facilitate trade, tourism, and business between India and Nepal.
