India, France Advance Talks On Nuclear Reactor Deployment

India, France Advance Talks On Nuclear Reactor Deployment

Indian officials met with a large French energy company to discuss nuclear power.

The company is called Électricité de France, or EDF.

They talked about bringing European Pressurised Reactors to India.

India recently changed its rules to allow private companies to participate in civil nuclear power.

This has attracted interest from nuclear companies in France, the United States and Russia.

India and France also agreed last year to explore smaller and advanced types of reactors.

The Indian government is now working on the detailed rules for the SHANTI Act.

India and France have worked closely together on nuclear issues for many years.
