Madhya Pradesh Boosts Moong Procurement to 60% and Suspends Fertiliser E‑Token
The state of Madhya Pradesh decided to buy more of the green beans called moong from farmers.
They will now take 60% of what farmers grow instead of 25%.
They also stopped using a new computer system that gives farmers fertilizer.
This change was made after farmers marched to the state capital and talked with the government.
The government will look into the new system and may change it later.
Farmers still want the government to buy all of their moong at a higher price, so the protest might continue.
Madhya Pradesh raised moong procurement from 25% to 60% of eligible farmers’ produce.
The procurement deadline was extended from August 10 to August 20, with slot booking extended to August 10.
The e‑token system for fertiliser distribution was suspended pending a review by a high‑level committee.
The decision followed protests by moong growers and meetings with farmer representatives.
Some farmer leaders still demanded 100% procurement at minimum support price, keeping the agitation alive.
