Tata Sons Adjourns AGM Amid Unresolved Chairman Succession

Tata Sons Adjourns AGM Amid Unresolved Chairman Succession

Tata Sons planned to hold its yearly shareholder meeting on August 18.

The meeting could not proceed because not enough shareholders or representatives were present.

This is called failing to meet the quorum.

The meeting was supposed to discuss company finances, a dividend, and the chairman’s position.

N Chandrasekaran has said he will not ask for another term after his current term ends in February 2027.

Tata Trusts, which controls most of Tata Sons, has created a committee to help choose the next chairman.

Noel Tata is one possible choice and leads Tata Trusts.

Although he must leave the boards of six Tata companies, he may remain on the Tata Sons board under an exemption for Tata Trusts nominees.
