Lok Sabha Adjourned Over Opposition Protests
The Lok Sabha, India's lower house of Parliament, was paused until noon because some opposition members were shouting and causing trouble.
The Speaker, Om Birla, said they were acting in a planned way and that it hurt the dignity of the house.
Some MPs were upset about a police crackdown on students, a suspended MP, and a theft claim at a temple in Ayodhya.
The Congress leader, Mallikarjun Kharge, said the government used batons and pellet guns on students and wants the Home Minister to resign.
The upper house, the Rajya Sabha, will also pause until Monday.
Lok Sabha adjourned until Friday noon after opposition members disrupted proceedings.
Speaker Om Birla said the disruptions were "pre‑planned" and lowered the house’s dignity.
Opposition MPs protested police crackdown on students, MP Kalyan Banerjee’s suspension, and alleged donation theft at Ayodhya’s Ram Temple.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge demanded Prime Minister Modi ask Home Minister Amit Shah to resign over police actions.
Rajya Sabha will be adjourned until Monday.
