Rare Neelakurinji Bloom in Nilgiris Brings Rs 25,000 Plucking Fine

In the Nilgiri hills, a very special flower called Neelakurinji has started blooming.

This flower is famous because it only blooms once every 12 years.

When it blooms, the hillsides turn beautiful shades of blue.

Lots of people, including tourists and photographers, are visiting to see it.

Social media videos of the blue hills are making even more people want to go.

But the flowers are protected, and the Forest Department says people must not pick or damage them.

If someone breaks the rules, they can be fined up to Rs 25,000 and even sent to jail for up to three years.

Visitors are also told to stay in safe, permitted areas because wild elephants live near the flowering spots.

Disturbing the forests can be dangerous for people and for the animals.

So everyone is asked to enjoy the blue flowers from a safe distance.
