Iran Disputes US Claim Two UN Delegates Were Kicked Out
The United States said two Iranian diplomats stayed in New York after being told to leave.
A US official said the State Department reminded Iran’s UN mission that the delegation needed to depart.
The official said one diplomat left Friday night and the other left Saturday morning.
The official described them as having been “kicked out.”
Iran’s foreign minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, disagreed with that description.
He said the diplomats left on schedule.
The two countries therefore gave different accounts of whether the departures were ordinary or forced.
