Delhi Doubles Parking Charges, Shifts Office Timings to Curb Pollution

Delhi Doubles Parking Charges, Shifts Office Timings to Curb Pollution

Delhi is taking new steps to reduce air pollution during the winter.

Parking will cost twice as much at most authorised parking places.

The government hopes this will encourage people to use fewer private cars.

Some construction work will also be restricted.

Offices may use different start times so fewer people travel at once.

Government and private offices have been asked to let half of their workers work from home.

Older vehicles registered outside Delhi will face restrictions, but CNG and electric vehicles are excluded.

These measures will begin on November 1 and are intended to reduce traffic and pollution.
