Akhara Parishad backs CM Adityanath in row
There was a big meeting called Virat Sant Sammelan in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.
The leader of Akhara Parishad, Mahant Ravindra Puri, spoke there.
He said that all religious leaders, or seers, should respect the chief minister, Yogi Adityanath, and other authorities.
He mentioned that if there are any problems, seers should talk to the government directly instead of using bad language.
This was in response to a controversy where another seer, Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati, was allegedly stopped by the police from taking a holy dip in the river.
Puri said that it's not right to abuse the chief minister and that seers should be proud that one of them is leading the state.
He also mentioned that there was no special bathing event, called Shahi Snan, during the Magh Mela.
Meanwhile, a complaint has been filed with the Uttar Pradesh State Human Rights Commission alleging misbehaviour, assault, and jostling by the fair administration and police against the disciples of Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati.
The complaint demands an independent investigation and legal action against the responsible officials.
