Vijay Orders Dengue Control, Monsoon Preparations in Ten Districts
Tamil Nadu is preparing for heavy rain during the Northeast Monsoon.
Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay met officials from 10 districts in Chennai.
Hilly places may face landslides, mudslides and blocked roads.
Officials will watch dangerous areas and practice evacuations.
They will also keep phones and radios working if normal networks fail.
Roads, canals and drains must be kept clear so people and floodwater can move safely.
Stored rice and emergency supplies must be protected.
Health workers will look for dengue mosquitoes and teach families how to prevent breeding.
Hospitals must prepare medicines, tests, beds and treatment for seriously ill patients.
Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay reviewed monsoon and disaster preparations with collectors from 10 Tamil Nadu districts.
Officials were told to monitor landslide-prone areas, especially in the Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Dindigul and Theni.
The plans include mock drills, evacuations, slope stabilisation, road-clearance equipment and functioning VHF devices and satellite phones.
Districts must keep canals and drains clear, protect procured paddy and stock essential goods at relief shelters.
Health authorities were directed to identify dengue hotspots, remove Aedes larvae and equip hospitals and PHCs for severe cases.
