Supreme Court Upholds Demolition of Ujjain's Takiya Mosque for Mahakal Lok Expansion
Imagine a very old mosque in Ujjain that the government wanted to demolish to make a bigger area for a famous temple next door.
Some people who prayed there said this was wrong because the mosque was old and important.
They went to court, but the first courts said it was okay to demolish it to build the temple's expansion.
The people then asked the highest court in the country, the Supreme Court, to help.
The Supreme Court looked at the case and agreed with the other courts.
They said the land where the mosque stood was legally taken to build the temple's new area.
The Supreme Court also mentioned that if people are supposed to get money for their land, they have ways to ask for it through other laws.
So, the court decided not to stop the demolition.
The Supreme Court dismissed an appeal challenging the demolition of the Takiya mosque in Ujjain.
The Madhya Pradesh High Court had previously upheld the demolition.
The land was acquired for the expansion of the Mahakal Lok complex, associated with the Mahakaleshwar Temple.
Petitioners argued the demolition violated religious and land acquisition laws.
The Supreme Court stated the High Court's reasoning was sound and petitioners have legal remedies for compensation.
