Adivasi man alleges assault, caste abuse by govt employee
A man named Bipul Orang, who is from the Adivasi community, said that a government worker named Samiran Baruah hurt him, used bad words about his community, and made him do embarrassing things in public.
This happened because Orang told Baruah's wife about Baruah's secret relationship.
People saw parts of this on video and got very angry.
Orang went to the police to report what happened, and a group called ATTSA is asking the police to arrest Baruah quickly or they will protest.
Orang also said that the police at first did not want to listen to his complaint.
Bipul Orang, an Adivasi man, filed an FIR alleging assault, caste-based abuse, and public humiliation by Samiran Baruah, a Jorhat Development Authority employee.
Orang claimed the incident occurred on February 21, 2025, following his disclosure of Baruah's alleged extramarital relationship to Baruah's wife.
The assault included physical violence, casteist slurs, and forcing Orang to lick Baruah's feet, with parts of the incident captured on video.
Orang's initial complaint at Madhapur Police Station was not registered, but the FIR was eventually lodged at Titabar Police Station and forwarded for investigation.
The All Tea Tribes Students’ Association (ATTSA) has demanded the immediate arrest of Baruah and his associates, warning of protests if action is not taken.
