Rainy Independence Day in Delhi as Heavy Showers Forecast Nationwide
The weather scientists in India, called the India Meteorological Department, look at the sky to tell us what the weather will be like.
They say that on India's birthday, which is called Independence Day, it might rain in Delhi, the capital city.
There is a 70 out of 100 chance of light rain very early in the morning, and maybe more rain later in the day.
The sky will probably be cloudy, and it will feel warm, between 24 and 34 degrees.
Some other places in India, like Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, might get very heavy rain.
A big weather system moving across the country is causing all this rain.
In the mountains of Uttarakhand, very heavy rain could cause landslides and block roads.
There might also be heavy rain in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and parts of Uttar Pradesh.
People in Mumbai and the Northeast should also expect rain.
So people celebrating Independence Day in Delhi might want to carry an umbrella!
The India Meteorological Department predicts a 70% chance of light rain in Delhi between 4 am and 6 am on Independence Day, with more spells possible later.
Very heavy showers are forecast in parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, linked to a weather system moving inland from Jharkhand.
Uttarakhand could receive very heavy rain, raising risks of landslides, flash floods and disruption on vulnerable mountain roads.
Heavy rain is also expected in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, parts of Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Jharkhand and areas of West Bengal and Sikkim.
Delhi temperatures are expected to range between 24 and 34 degrees Celsius with a generally cloudy sky.
Widespread rain is likely across Mumbai and the Konkan-Goa belt, while the Northeast and Kerala regions also face heavy rain.
The most intense rainfall is expected over eastern Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
