BSF Deploys Body Cams, Biometrics to Curb Bangladesh Infiltration
The Border Security Force (BSF) is getting thousands of body cameras to record what happens on the India-Bangladesh border.
These cameras will help document instances when illegal immigrants are sent back, and also show if criminals attack BSF personnel.
The BSF will also start collecting fingerprints and eye scans of people caught trying to cross the border illegally.
This new tech aims to provide evidence for investigations and create a database against infiltrators.
This is happening because security arrangements are being increased along the border, following political changes.
BSF to receive over 5,000 body-worn cameras for the India-Bangladesh border.
Cameras are night-vision enabled and record 12-14 hours of footage.
Biometric data (fingerprints, iris scans) will be collected at select border outposts.
Measures follow increased security concerns after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government.
The initiative aims to document interactions with illegal immigrants and address border-related crimes.
