Karnataka Demolishes Muslim Colonies, Sparks Political Debate
The Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, is upset about the demolition of two areas in Bengaluru where many Muslim families lived.
He thinks it's unfair and compares it to what happens in North India, where people's homes are destroyed.
The Karnataka government, led by Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, says the land was illegally occupied and that they are trying to protect public property.
They also say they will provide new homes to those who are eligible.
Both leaders are arguing about who is right and what should be done.
Congress leader KC Venugopal also spoke to the Karnataka CM and Deputy CM, expressing concern and asking for more care and help for the people who lost their homes.
Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan condemned the demolition of Fakir Colony and Wasim Layout in Bengaluru, calling it shocking and painful.
Vijayan accused the Karnataka government of following a 'bulldozer justice' model and targeting minorities.
Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar defended the demolition, stating the land was an encroached waste dumpsite and the action was to protect public property.
Shivakumar asserted that the government will provide alternative housing to eligible individuals under the Rajiv Gandhi Awas Yojana.
Congress General Secretary (Organisation) K C Venugopal expressed concern over the demolition and urged the Karnataka government to handle such actions with more caution, sensitivity, and compassion.
