CJI Urges Courts to Balance Environmental Protection and Development Needs

CJI Urges Courts to Balance Environmental Protection and Development Needs

The Chief Justice of India said courts have a difficult job.

They must protect nature while also considering the need for development.

Sometimes lawmakers have not made clear rules for these decisions.

Then judges must decide where to draw the line.

Citizens may ask courts for help when governments act too slowly.

The CJI said this challenge affects judges across the Commonwealth.

Courts therefore need to think about both ecological survival and developmental necessity.

The goal is to balance these important needs.
