Indian, Bangladesh Officials Discuss Bilateral Cooperation in Dhaka

Indian and Bangladesh officials met in Dhaka.

India's High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh's Water Resources Minister Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee.

They talked about improving cooperation and friendship between the two countries.

They also discussed their shared history, heritage and cultural connections.

Both sides said they wanted to take their relationship to a higher level.

India's High Commission said stronger engagement could help fulfill the hopes of people in both countries.

However, the official statements did not mention important disagreements over sharing river water.

The Ganges treaty is due to expire in December, and a proposed Teesta arrangement from 2011 has not been signed.
