Telangana Reserves 85% of PG Medical Seats for Local Students
Imagine there are special seats for doctors who want to study even more, like becoming a heart doctor or a skin doctor.
These are called postgraduate medical seats, and some are in private schools.
Before, students from anywhere in India could try to get these seats.
Now, the government of Telangana has decided that 85 out of every 100 of these special private seats will be saved just for students from Telangana.
This means more local students will get a chance to become specialists.
This is a big change because before, many of these seats were taken by students from other states.
The government is doing this to help students from Telangana and make sure the state has enough specialist doctors in the future.
Telangana government reserves 85% of PG Medical Management Quota 1 (MQ-1) seats in private medical colleges for local students.
This policy change ensures 318 out of 374 private PG medical MQ-1 seats will be reserved for Telangana students starting in the 2025-26 academic year.
Previously, these seats were filled under the All India category, with nearly 60% taken by non-local candidates.
The decision was approved by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and fulfills a decade-old demand from Telangana's medical community.
This move aims to increase postgraduate opportunities for medical and dental graduates from Telangana and strengthen the state's healthcare system.
