Microsoft Urges Authenticator Users to Save Passwords on Edge
Microsoft is changing how you save passwords.
If you use the Authenticator app to save passwords, you'll need to start using Microsoft Edge browser instead.
This means you should save your passwords to Edge right away.
Starting next year, the Authenticator app won't save new passwords or autofill them for you.
Any payment information saved there will also be deleted, so be ready to add that again in Edge if you use it.
For those using passkeys, the Authenticator app must stay enabled to continue using passkeys for your Microsoft accounts.
It's a move to keep your info safe and easy to access through a new browser.
Microsoft will end Authenticator's password management features in June 2025.
Users are advised to save passwords in Microsoft Edge immediately.
Saved passwords will no longer be accessible in Authenticator after August 2025.
Payment information stored in Authenticator will be deleted and not transferred to Edge.
Authenticator must remain enabled for passkeys to function for Microsoft accounts.
