US TV News Pool Ends Coverage After CNN Dispute
Several US television news companies used to work together to cover events involving President Donald Trump.
One network would attend an event and share its video with the others.
This system was called a television news pool.
CNN was assigned to cover an event, but the White House stopped CNN from doing its assigned work.
After that, the pool’s leaders decided to end the shared system.
The decision takes effect immediately.
News networks will no longer use the pool for designated presidential events.
Fox News said there will not be a replacement pool.
The US television news pool will immediately stop covering presidential events designated for pooled coverage.
Fox News executive Bryan Boughton announced the decision in an email.
The move follows the White House preventing CNN from carrying out its assigned pool duties.
The rotating pool allowed one news organization to cover events and share footage with other networks.
Boughton said no replacement pool would be created.
