Gurugram Traffic Challans Go Digital with ANPR Cameras
Imagine cameras watching the roads in Gurugram.
If a car speeds or runs a red light, these special cameras can catch it by reading the license plate.
Then, instead of a police officer giving you a ticket on the spot, an electronic ticket, called an e-challan, is created automatically.
This makes giving out tickets faster and more fair, as it uses technology instead of just people.
These cameras can spot many different driving mistakes.
While this new system is starting, people are wondering how it will handle cases like drunk driving, and if they can still pay fines in person.
The police are using these cameras more and more to make driving safer for everyone.
Gurugram Traffic Police will now issue e-challans using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras.
The new system aims to make traffic enforcement faster, more transparent, and reduce manual checks.
ANPR cameras can detect up to 14 types of traffic violations, including speeding and red-light jumping.
E-challans will be generated in real-time once a violation is detected by the ANPR system.
Physical challans will be discontinued at approximately fifty busy intersections across Gurugram.
