Andhra Employees Thank Government for Pension Scheme Change
Employees and teachers in Andhra Pradesh are very happy because the government changed their pension plan.
Before, they were part of a plan where they had to contribute money, but now they are back to an older plan that gives them more financial security when they retire.
A lot of people, about 11,000 families, will benefit from this change.
The government also made sure that even some teachers who joined after 2004 but were recruited under a 2004 notification will get the benefits of the old plan.
The employees thanked the Chief Minister for making this change.
One of the officials also criticized the previous government for making teachers do jobs like managing queues at liquor shops, which they said was not respectful.
Employees and teachers in North Andhra expressed gratitude for the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).
The OPS provides long-term financial security to around 11,000 families.
The government extended OPS benefits to employees and teachers recruited under the 2004 notification but joined after 2004.
MLC Vepada Chiranjeevi Rao and MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao thanked Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for the pension reform.
MLA Vishnu Kumar Raju criticized the previous YSRC government for undermining teachers' dignity.
