BJP's Komaraiah Flags Declining Education Standards in Telangana
A leader from a political party in India called the BJP said that schools in a state called Telangana are not getting better.
He said the state government does not spend enough money on education.
Many other states in India spend about 14 to 18 out of every 100 rupees on schools, but Telangana only spends about 7 rupees.
He also said that almost all of that money, about 90 out of every 100 rupees, is used to pay teachers' salaries.
That leaves very little money to fix buildings or buy new books.
The leader asked the government to give more money to schools.
He also said the state should have a full-time minister just for education.
He believes a dedicated minister could make decisions faster.
Finally, he asked the state to start using a new national plan for education called NEP 2020.
He thinks this plan would make schools and colleges work better.
BJP leader Malka Komaraiah alleged that the quality of education in Telangana is deteriorating due to inadequate budget allocation and poor governance.
He said Telangana allocates only around 7.2 per cent of its budget to education, while states across India allocate around 14 to 18 per cent and the Union government around 15 per cent.
Komaraiah claimed nearly 90 per cent of the education budget goes towards salaries, leaving too little to improve educational quality.
He demanded the appointment of a full-time education minister, saying several files remain pending for months due to inadequate coordination.
He urged immediate implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and alleged the Congress government failed to fulfil its election manifesto promises on education.
