Tambaram Corporation plans Rs 111.08-crore stormwater drain network
The Tambaram City Municipal Corporation in Tamil Nadu has proposed a big project to build stormwater drains to stop flooding in some areas.
The project will cost Rs 111.08 crore and will build 30.37 kilometres of drains.
The drains will help move rainwater faster and prevent flooding in places like Goodwill Nagar and Samathuva Periyar Nagar.
The project is divided into two parts.
The first part will build 23.1 kilometres of drains for Rs 95.51 crore, and the second part will build 7.27 kilometres of drains for Rs 15.57 crore.
The corporation says they did a lot of research to make sure the drains work well.
But some people who live there and civic activists say that past projects did not work well and that the corporation needs to do more to make sure the new drains work better.
