Delhi Reports 272 Dengue Cases, No Vector-Borne Disease Deaths

Delhi tracks illnesses spread by mosquitoes, including dengue, malaria and chikungunya.

By August 22, officials counted 272 dengue cases, 95 malaria cases and 21 chikungunya cases.

No deaths from these three diseases were reported.

More cases were found during the latest reported week.

City workers searched for places where mosquitoes could breed.

They found breeding in more than 100,000 spots and gave out many legal notices.

They also sprayed more than 357,000 homes to help kill mosquito larvae.

Officials are asking people not to let water collect near their homes.

The MCD’s dengue total is much lower than the at-least 1,300 cases cited earlier by Health Minister Pankaj Singh.
