Oracle Caps Layoff Severance as Global Restructuring Expands

Oracle Caps Layoff Severance as Global Restructuring Expands

Oracle is laying off employees in several countries, including India.

A report says affected workers can receive some salary as severance pay.

The maximum amount is 26 weeks of base salary.

Workers will lose any stock awards that have not vested yet.

They also will not qualify for future corporate bonuses after leaving.

About 3,000 India-based workers may have been affected in the newest round, but Oracle has not confirmed that number.

The company is cutting jobs while spending heavily on artificial intelligence and cloud technology.

Oracle says it needs to be more careful about how it uses its money.

The layoffs are part of a larger restructuring plan expected to cost about $2.8 billion.
