US Announces Gaza Governance Plan
The U.S. is going to announce a plan to help Gaza after the fighting stops.
They will pick a group of Palestinian experts to manage daily things like clean water and schools.
A man named Nickolay Mladenov will help make sure the plan works.
The U.S. hopes this will make Gaza safe and then turn it into a nice place to live.
But there are some problems.
A group called Hamas, which the U.S. says is bad, still has weapons and hasn't said if they will give them up.
Some people are worried Hamas will still be in charge, which could cause more fighting.
Also, the body of a police officer killed by Hamas hasn't been returned to Israel.
The U.S. thinks Hamas will eventually lose power, but it's not clear how that will happen.
The U.S. will announce a plan to govern and rebuild Gaza, naming a committee of 15 Palestinian technocrats.
Nickolay Mladenov will oversee the implementation of the peace plan as the high representative.
The Board of Peace, consisting of roughly 12 members, will provide high-level direction on Gaza matters.
Hamas has not detailed its plans to disarm, raising concerns about the plan's success.
The body of Ran Gvili, a police officer killed by Hamas, has not been returned to Israel, delaying the plan.
